Reading is one of the things I love to do most. When you read a good book, you lose yourself and become a part of the story. You develop attachments or disdain for certain characters and you learn so much. Although I maybe shouldn’t admit this, but I learned most of what I know through reading and self-teaching. My education was very structured and classical and it wasn’t a great fit for me. I did well in school, but wasn’t thrilled or excited to learn because I found it all so incredibly boring. I don’t respond very well to being dictated to nor being taught how something is done by having someone do it for me. I like to be shown how to do it, then try to do it myself. People are not one-size-fits-all, nor should education be. There are many different types of intelligence. I like to say that I attended (and continue to attend) the school of life.
I’ve always had a novel on the go but since my Mum died, I haven’t really been able to give myself fully to a book. I must pick one from my library and just throw myself into it. These are some of the books I haven’t yet read that are in my bookshelf:

I can read just about anywhere – even the car. I would love to have a dedicated reading nook though, just like these:

Where do you like to read? What are some of your favourite books?
