A few weekends ago, James and I suddenly found ourselves childless for the evening. Both kids had plans including a sleepover. What better time to try one of the many restaurants in Montreal on our list. Our first choice was already booked for the evening, but our second choice had a table at 6:30 p.m. and we had to be out of there by 9 p.m. for the next reservation. We took it.
Off we drove to Old Montreal, parked the car and perilously walked on the cobbles (especially me with my stilettos). It was an unseasonably warm night and Restaurant Barroco welcomed us with open floor to ceiling windows looking out onto St. Paul Street. The atmosphere in the restaurant was so cozy and inviting. We were escorted to a perfect table right in the window and given menus. Luckily for me, the menu isn’t too extensive otherwise I hem and haw at every option and it takes me forever to pick only one thing. We finally decided and ordered. Our waiter was really friendly and efficient, without being cloying and fawning. Every course was beautiful, original and delicious. We will definitely be returning. A great recommendation if you want a romantic restaurant in Old Montreal. Heck, give us a call – we might just join you.
