As I sit here looking outside at the white landscape (and feeling the -22˚C temperature in my bones), I long for spring and early summer when the peonies in my garden will unfurl their tight heads into silky, billowy flowers. Although I can’t pick one favourite flower, peonies are among them, along with poppies and old English roses. They all grow well in my garden and they seem to thrive on neglect. I’m not much of a summer person so when it gets too hot and humid in July and August, the last place I’ll be is in my sunny, south-facing back garden.
Until spring, we can dream……

Note: a friend recently mentioned how great it is to give proper credit to a photograph’s source. I wholeheartedly agree. For every photograph that I use that isn’t my own, I try my best to track the original source but this is increasingly difficult. For example, for the photo above of the peonies in the wire basket which I found on Pinterest, I clicked on the photo which to me to someone’s Tumblr where the source was credited to another link. I clicked on that link, which took me to yet another Tumblr, and so on and so on. I did this 4 times, still not finding the original source. Whenever I do have the source, I always mention it.Marie
